(2005-11-19) — Triumphant after the success of last night’s 403-03 House vote against pulling troops from Iraq, acting Majority Leader Roy Blunt, R-MO, said he would immediately “call the Democrats’ bluff” again by forcing a vote on articles of impeachment against President George Bush.

“The Democrats said that Iraq was a quagmire and we need to get out now, but they didn’t have the guts to put their votes where their rhetoric was,” said Rep. Blunt. “Let’s see if they have the courage to back up all of this reckless impeachment talk.”

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-CA, quickly condemned the move as “a cynical Republican attempt to distract attention from the Bush administration’s treasonous high crimes and misdemeanors.”
