Economics 101 in America

Audrey's family lived on the wrong side of the tracks and her Father was not politically and economically connected at the local country club.

In other worlds, she did not have the same advantages her friend had and this accounted for much of her less than stellar performance in school. If her parents had privilege they would have more cultural and educational opportunities.

Audrey's Father did not get into a top-notch college because his Father and Grandfather went there and he was not part of the good old back-slapping boys network where the boys carry you along, inspite of your low I.Q. and competence.

Audrey's family not lily-white, Anglo-Saxon Protestant looking and acting and was not the recipient of all the subsidies of higher mortgage and property tax deductions that the remainder of the taxpayers were subsidizing.

You see, Audrey's family did not prosper at the exploitation of others who built and died for this country.

In America, it is socialism for the wealthy and capitalism for the rest.

THE END

John: I like your story, but today's Republican Party is more like this follow-up to your same story:

The father says to the daughter: We all need to earn what we get and pay for those things we want. Credit card debt is a bad thing, but for your education a special deal - You should be able to get currently everything you want and not sacrifice even though times are hard. I know we can't afford your college tuition, sorority dues, books and other fees, but you can go right ahead and enjoy that college experience fully. We will just run up the bill for it and pay for it later...or we will make the next generation of students pay for your education. Now, if they can't afford to pay for their own education and yours both, that will be their problem; In fact, let's add even more non-college expenses to your bill for the next students to pay. Maybe a new football field or running track that aren't needed but will get you elected Sorority queen for providing them. The next generation of students can pay higher tuition and fees to pay for them. And we don't need to worry about the Dean vetoing them..he has never vetoed any spending plan, no matter how unnecessary or wrong-headed."

Now, I wish the current Republicans in Congress were like your original story, but sadly they are more like my story.
