I was talking about Iraqi insurgents, not Al Qaida. Like it or not a segment of the Iraqi people don't want the US in their country.

I don't use debating tactics that ascribe beliefs that have neither been verbalized nor implied. Perhaps you should try the same.

As to the sovereign nation argument I don't see the US doing much about Chechnya and the slaughter going on there. But then again Chechnya probably didn't sign any treaties and the dead women, elderly, and children didn't have serial numbers or uniforms. So they were legal game for the Russian military.
