"I'm fighting laws that allow the government to infringe on the right to keep and bear arms, including tracking gun owners in a database"

Please continue to fight for those beliefs and rights that are so important. Other people have different priorities but are no less intense about issues such as public safety, child safety, etc. Somewhere between the thesis and the antithesis there comes the synthesis.

There is an old story about a fearful man who had planned for every contingency. He went out with bullet proof vests, bee masks, gloves--and a variety of other gadgets and coverings to protect against every contingency.

One day as he laboriously dragged himself out to the street...

two miles away Mrs Ogrady's moonshine exploded and it sent her stove hurtling through the air. The man did not see it because of his goggles; he did not hear the explosion because...

he could not run because.. and his gloves.... and meanwhile....

And so he died.

As you can see, I disremember the story...but it was funny in the original! It was supposed to carry some sort of lesson.
