Then everything grinds to a halt. Yes, it isn't particularly fair. But in the current environment, they are just putting more and more pressure on the more moderates to abandon their party. It has already started, and the dirty tricks just accelerate it.


I'd rather things ground to a halt than to make deals with the devil. You mentioned in another post that politics are dirty. Well if we keep lowering the bar, they will remain dirty. My biggest problem is that we have too many people serving their respective parties, and not their country. From my experience, that's a relatively new and dangerous phenomenon that needs to be stopped. While that may be a byproduct of polarization, I happen to think it has more to do with the kinds of people being attracted to public office at the current time. If we set some standards higher, those kinds of people might not be so interested.
