"Multinational effort" is a cute euphemism for W's war, but the UN resolution thing is somewhat dubious. Before the war, W was afraid to get a vote on an explicit authorization, because it looked like it wouldn't get even a simple majority in the security counsel. Of course, W's faithful claim the first vote was an authorization, but nobody outside the inner circle seemed to agree with that.

"I have communicated with a bunch of liberals on SI who don't support the spread of democracy in any manner and who think much of the world is culturally incapable of it. Not progressive IMO."

Perhaps you could document that statement.
