well you can't apply a simple logic of "Couple points are ok, but >5 means it is wrong."

I would think that the amount of movement outside the spiral would be based on the size of the spiral. Secondly, you are using a daily indicator, so the "system" needs to incorporate "daily" price swings potentials... JMO

Your assumption that the spiral wall will 100% of the time signal a reversal is wrong. I have seen many examples of continuation over the past year. That is where risk management comes in.
