" I need to go to the US amd make a tour there and see what the Americans 40 to 60 year old like to do when travelling."

1. Eat. Food is big part of travel adventure. But, the vast majority of people want something familiar for breakfast - the other meals can be much more adventurous. Give them cornflakes, pancakes, eggs, bacon and coffee.
Brazil has lots of ways to prepare meat.
Brazil - land of Steak !
Curitiba will also have many different cuisines.

2. Buy stuff - stuff to keep, stuff to send home, stuff to send to relatives, friends, grankids...

What 15 year old girl would not want to recieve a thong bikini from her Aunt Martha ? If for no other reason than to see her mother bounce off the ceiling screaming " You can't wear that !" ;-)

Okay, they will want to buy clothes - (Large, XL, and XXL sizes for US, Canadians, UK, and Germans), sandals, and more luggage to ship stuff home.

Brazil is a MAJOR shoe maker. Shoe shopping will strongly appeal to some women - not all.

Also the usual photos, souveniers, local crafts, etc.

3. Air conditioning. Big people running around in the sun get hot.

4. Secure, clean comfortable hotel, some English speaking staff, CNN & BBC worldwide on the room TV. A three star hotel with a few more English speakers and familiar breakfast options should be enough.

Expect that WiFi and internet connections will be needed also.

5. It is nice to have some brief lectures by some informed tour guides, maybe history of language students or assistant professors at the local University.

We had this on a trip to Tours in France to see Loire Valley castles, and it was great.

6. A small Map of the area, maybe simplified, with travel time estimates. On the back, emergency phone numbers, contacts, and a few key English - Portuges phrases. Maybe a web site listing.

7. Some cultural or sports activities. Football will appeal to some people in that age group, others might like a concert, horse racing, or something else. The 40+ age group is not as familiar with football (soccer) as a younger generation is, and so US and Canadian interest may be pretty low.

I played soccer in elementary school long ago. I now understand that "heading" the ball - bouncing the ball with your head - may cause brain damage ? Now I know why I had to reapeat the fifth grade three times...

Museum and gallery tours also work well.

Ecotourism is the big thing these days. Enjoy the environment, some sort of physical activity that's not too demanding like scuba diving or hiking, natural food in a natural setting, maybe some yoga or Pilates and massages if you want to provide more luxury.

The kind of thing you will see in the US isn't at all what will get people to visit Brazil. Americans touring the US are cheap.
