Didn't Hillary hold up a newspaper after 9-11 with a headline about "what did Bush know and when did he know it"?

I assume it backfired on her since she checked the polls adn changed het tune...

Isn't Cohen engaged in a misdirection ?

I don't know why Cohen took up that particular issue. He doesn't give us any preamble, just jumps in. I remember that when I read his column I had just read something somewhere claiming that very thing, which is why I reacted to the column and posted it. But I can't for the life of me remember where I saw it. I thought it was here but I can't find it. Don't know exactly what to search for. It occurred to me, though, that Cohen may have seen the same thing I saw and tried to prove or disprove it.

Or he may be "attempting to limit the damage" as you say. I don't know.

If he's engaging in misdirection, I don't think what he's doing is very effective. I don't think the differentiation would matter much to Bush backers. They would probably gloss over it just like they did here. And for Dem partisans, I don't know why they would care unless they were concerned that their elected officials weren't rabid enough. <g>

I think it matters because I can't stand the loonies taking over the debate and it always gives me some comfort when I see our elected officials eschewing the loony rhetoric and acting like adults. I would please me if it were true, as it appears to be, that no Dem Member personally called Bush a liar. A small victory for civility.

P.S. In my review of my clips of some of the discussion leading up to the Iraq war, I did find an article by Harry Browne calling Bush a liar. FWIW.
