'cuz Google is much more than a media company...and has everything to do with tech. Indexing (like Yahoo), networking like MCI, software creation and sales (like Microsoft), storage & caching (like Akamai), business services like (like eBay, PriceGrabber, ValueClick), online consumer services (like Yellow Pages), etc.

Elroy we have been all over this "google is just a media company" claim backwards and forwards and upside down on the Google thread. Believe what you want, the fact is that Bill Gates is shaking in his boots and GOOG has hired all his good people. I doubt they'd be so excited to go work for the New York Times.

The categories you listed as technology "PCs, cell phones, software" really should be reclassed as "last decades technology". Enterprise software is dead, to be supplanted by salesforce.com and a group of companies around that. PCs, I don't know, I suspect Apple or somebody will come up with a TV PC and that will take off but until then PCs are mature also. Cell phones are a good area for this decade.
