I totally understand your motivations. Totally. They're very very rational. If you've got your downside covered, this is as good a place as any to launch an exploratory shot.

>>The one thing I kept seeing is that everything's iPods about Apple but no mention of Macs. Personally, I don't give a rats behind about Mactels. The computers may be faster than current models but big deal. I just don't see the big wave of switchers who just want to have OS X as opposed to XP or Vista. An iBook with Intel inside this Mac World you say? Whoopie doodoo! How many people are really waiting for that one? The Intel switch is going to be a big let down IMO because other than faster processors, there's nothing else Apple couldn't add or hasn't added to the current Macs.<<

Orion -

While there is a lot of talk about iPods, because their success has been nothing short of phenomenal, I can't remember seeing one analyst recommending AAPL recently without also mentioning the rising computer sales.

One thing the release of the MacIntels will definitely do is to get everyone talking about Apple computers again.

I don't see why you think Apple needs to attract a "big wave of switchers". They are selling more than a million computers per quarter, and making a good profit on them. They don't have to suddenly double their volume to stay in that business. It's not reasonable to expect them to. They can just continue to grow sales a little bit at at time.
