Your statement is the very reason that you have so much trouble debating the issue of Iraq on its own merits.

Those opposed to the Iraq war are not opposed to the war against terrorism not do they condone the acts of 9/11 or other terrorist attacks on vacation resorts etc. What is instead being said is that the President and his VP, is not going about it the right way.

There are numerous talk show hosts who say that they think we should not have gone into Iraq and instead pursued Osama. But they also say that once there we need to finish the job. Then there are others who say that our job is done in Iraq, we have captured Saddam and we need to be out of there.

Nation building in Iraq is not a US responsibility. It is the world's responsibility and in the world's interest. Bush created the Iraqi mess and now he needs to convince the world to come in and fix it. Massive diplomatic efforts need to be under way. He let one of the best diplomats, Gen Colin Powell go. Why? Power struggle in the WH where Cheney and Rumsfeld hold sway. So every new voice you hear against the war is a voice for Cheney and Rumsfeld to clear out and give way to saner folks. What Bush needs at this very moment is Uncle James Baker and let go Uncle Cheney. All the talk about how a President has to protect the lives of Americans is irrelevant. We need solutions and not talk.

Just look at Iran. Bush has kept his hands out of it and it is going well, in that at least US lives are not being lost.
