But some of the alternatives are worse. Hmmmm....i can't think of anything that's worse. I accepth the idea that it may be possible to idealize a vision of a "good" empire...but one has not materialized through history and human nature always gets in the way....empires have always meant the subjugation of peoples for their presumed good. In the struggle for Indian indipendence Ghandi told the British viceroy that all people prefer their own bad government to the good government of a foreign power.
