Solon, The one I got has a very gentle hum that is not annoying, nor damaging, at all.

Most of the men that let their nose, and ear, hairs grow out of control, have given up on life, and don't really give a damn. Getting too old is a state of mind, and can be avoided by active use of the mind, and body.

I found a rotary one in my grandfather's medicine chest when I was about 17 - it looked clean so I stuck it in my nose and the cylinder rotated a quarter way and it would not pop back and was now actually firmly stuck in my nostril. A half hour of steady tugging eventually loosened it out along with some skin. Outside of passing a kidney stone in an airplane over Barbados this is the most painful thing I can remember.

I know an old rancher who burns his nose hairs out with a bic lighter using lightning quick flicks.
