That's bull. Hybrids use some sort of fuel; gas or diesel, so they are paying the tax. They just want to penalize efficiency. Gonna vehicle fee some of the high mileage imports extras, too? That's just a tax with a different name. Ain't fair. Ain't too helpful to PO and climate change, either. The bulk of the damage to roads are from the heavy semis. They pound it something fierce. Why not use a weight charge, and make them pay more? (cuz the independents can't afford it). Taxes need to go up, since it has been 12 years, but we don't believe in taxes, do we? Just spending. Need better railroads, too, for that matter. They should be raising taxes to promote conservation. CO2 tax. Put some of that into transportation, some into tree planting or something.
