If you're going to go to war, you had damned well better not do it based on not having evidence that something didn't happen. You need to have at least some evidence that what you are claiming is true.

The non-partisan 9/11 commission, discussing meetings between Al Qaeda and some Iraqi officials said, and I quote, "But to date we have seen no evidence that these or the earlier contacts ever developed into a collaborative operational relationship.Nor have we seen evidence indicating that Iraq cooperated with al Qaeda in developing or carrying out any attacks against the United States."

That's not media hype. That's the report from a group of people who had access to the best evidence that was available, who came from both parties, and who had nothing to gain by saying it.

It is true that one can't prove a negative. However, if you're going to state that there was a collaborative relationship, try to come up with some evidence that there was.

I have no evidence that you don't beat your wife. Does that justify my having you arrested for beating her?
