I don't know if these calculations are true but what if they're even remotely so? It takes 40 acres of wheat to make a gallon of gasoline.

I'm doing this quickly so I may be off on the info:

If the US consumes 20 million bbls/days or around 500-700 million gallons a day, it would require 20 billion acres of wheat or corn or whatever a day?

The US has 2.3 billion acres of land in total?

At any rate, maybe someone has better numbers but they still don't add up to anything reliable.
