I guess upon reflection, there has always been a lot of revisionism in history, as told by the victor. Sorting out the truth is always a challenge.

For example, I was always taught that Custer's men took a lot of Indians with them in their last stand. But, current research shows the Indians outkilled the cavalry by something like 4-1 or more. Now, is that new revisionism of the original revisionism? Guess we'll never really know.
