The superpower of it's time "the Roman Empire" used torture as a means to an end. They felt they could better control the peoples they subjugated by hanging people on crosses to die.

Now you advocate the super power of our generation open the gate down the same path as a better way to control a country they have taken over.

Make no mistake - rule torture legal and it will get out of hand - probably already has.
