"They're hoping to develop a blood feud between LA and TX in order to keep the heat off of them."

And Southwest Louisiana vs. Southeast. All of those conflicts go way back, why not use them to cover asses?

Another movie you should rent, "Schultze Gets The Blues". It reveals the other Louisiana that isn't New Orleans. I grew up with zydeco. Point of information, apparently zydeco derives from a french phrase that translates to "the beans aren't salty". That goes back to the typical Southern habit of seasoning beans by chunking in a smoked ham hock or some equivalent. If things are so bad that you can't afford to do that, then your beans aren't salty. Thing of zydeco as a country music equivalent. Except with accordions. As near as I can figure out, the gate raiser is quoting "Mein Kampf".

I am also pretty sure that the Texas beach town that Shultze goes to get gas is Surfside. he didn't pass the Purple Cow, but everything else looks the same.
