I did not become a Marine, but my father and brother were both Marines. I always get a little lump in my throat when I see the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor.

One thing is certain and that is whenever I see the Emblem or simply USMC on a car or tattooed on an arm, there is someone I can talk to and count on.

Yep, thats true even today. I was in Japan a few years ago on my way to the Philippines and met a fellow marine at the airport in Tokyo, he was very helpful in updating me on what to expect and do when arriving in the Philippines.

However, this is THE FIRST YEAR I saw no mention anywhere in the media about the Marine Birthday which used to be a big deal. I was at a car show and told the announcer, he announced in on the PA system. jdn
