There is also a bit of buchanan in his words. Very strong on national defense and the WOT, a realist not a neocon or idealist on FP not a globalist and worried about lost industrial jobs, single payer medical, fiscal conservative (i assume). It is an interesting mix and much of that is that he is not an east coast or left coaster--he is from a progressive tradition in the upper mid-west that includes Wisconsin, Minnesota and Michigan. He could carry those states without problem and he probably will have some following in neighboring states as well. mike
