I was highlighting Iran/Iraq ties to illustrate my point that Iran has possibly benefited more by the toppling of their historic enemy Saddam, then any other nation.

The Sunni nations sure haven't benefited to that degree.

(In fact, since Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and a few other Gulf States have their Shi'a minorities concentrated in their oil producing regions --- they are VERY SENSITIVE to the emergence of Shiite political power in the region. They perceive it has a *threat*.)

And, as our military has briefed reporters in Baghdad, the Sunni insurgents in Iraq seem to be able to benefit from near "endless amounts of funding and resupply" from their Sunni neighbors.
