Bin Laden may have involved, but he was not identified with any anti-american action until the 1998 embassy bombings in Kenya and Tanzania. He was involved in the Somalia problems that led Bush the elder to put the troops in that troubled zone too, but the fact was not known until later. As soon as Clinton identified Bin Laden as a threat he was hit, and hit hard. If the Republicans had not attacked every attempt to bring Bin Laden to justice as a wag-the-dog plot or ifJunior had kept the pressure up Bin Laden might not be a problem now.

Why do you suppose Cheney and Rumsfeld got Junior to slack off on Bin Laden and hijackings even as the Richard Clark and the CIA were practicly setting their hair on fire to draw attention to the Able Danger hijacking warnings? Hmmm. Enquiring minds want to know.
