I've driven Route Irish several times.. and it is indeed VERY DANGEROUS. I never drove in a military convoy, preferring to dress up "native style" and taking an indigenous vehicle so I could blend in.

But Aegis was notorious.. One of their armored cars ran some friends of mine off the road and caused their van to roll. Fortunately they were not seriously injured.

But they had clearly identified themselves as Americans (I can't discuss how), yet they were rammed anyway.

The Aegis personnel in charge of that incident were sent out of country as a result (and I assume lost their jobs as well).
