In Monday's filing, AMD added it cannot run it its factories at full capacity because it lacks the equipment to test some of the chips ordered by customers in the current quarter. Spansion is trying to complete an initial public offering. It aims to sell about 39.2 million Class A shares in the range of $16 a share to $18 a share. Citigroup and Credit Suisse First Boston are the lead bankers for the IPO, the timing of which has not been set. Still, business is picking up for Spansion as sales have improved the past two quarters. AMD forecast that the unit will rack up fourth-quarter revenue of more than $516 million. In the first nine months of this year, Spansion has booked $1.4 billion in sales. The company makes memory chips called NOR flash, which store data in phones and other consumer electronics even when the device is shut off.
