Just thinking the same thing - illegal immigrants are a function of economics triumphing over government programs, one of the sacred tenets of the conservatives. Sacred until the outcome doesn't suit them, of course. I also wonder - if all the illegal workers were sent home tomorrow, what would the breakdown be of the homeowners and businessmen who lost their cheap help to more effective anti-immigration policies, compared to their stated position on illegals? I can guess.
