I just don't know what our options were. All the options I could perceive at the time of OIF's initiation were undesirable.

We couldn't leave Saddam in power thumbing his nose at the UN and intimidating his neighbors (and terrorizing his subjects).

We also couldn't permit the rising level of Islamic militantcy to increase unopposed by western values of democracy and economic opportunity.

We also have to deal with the demographic imperatives in the region that would create the economic pressures that might permit Al Qai'da to actually succeed in eventually grabbing control over the region (the Arab part).

Uncle Sam cant do everything, everywhere and at the same time.

Bingo.. Complete agree.
