I got tired of Ameritrade (pink sheets, half of them doesn't work) and I switched to IB and it is much better. You are trading direct on Vankuver and Toronto stock exchange, with quotes in C$

I like it!

seventh_son - I do it all the time. I use a US-based online broker and I think at least 1/2 of my stocks are TSX-V. Almost all of them are eligible for 7.95 commission, regardless of trade size. Every now and then I get whacked with a $75 fee. Depends on the stock. PJO.V was in that category. Your friend should call their broker in advance to make sure there aren't any big and unpleasant surprises, in the way of fees. It differs from one to another...

IB may be a better bet, but moving accounts can be a PITA!
