Pole barn nails or spikes? The slickest thing I've seen for quartering moose is a small chain saw. Use cooking oil to lube the chain.

I knew a guy from Kenora, Ontario who wanted to hunt moose on an island in Lake of the Woods. Found a round tripper chopper going from Kenora to International Falls. Dropped him off on the island and picked him and the moose up and set them down on his front yard.
