If the situation has degenerated into a civil war then I agree we should, for the most part, disengage. The cultures are so hate and revenge oriented that they will continue to kill each other whether we are there or not. The only hope a unified Iraq had was if our troops could break the cycle.

Do you really think we will do anything if the Kurds try to form their own state? Seems to me the best thing to do would be to stay out of it. Like Iraq, the best way to win is not to play in the first place. Hopefully Bush understands that now.
