We seem to be in a new era of sorts

To wit: the credit bubble and the various speculative manias it has triggered are now so far advanced that the system can no longer tolerate classic 10-20% bear markets in any asset class -- stocks, bonds or real estate -- without catastrophic consequences.

Note that the S&P 500 dropped only about 5% during this Fed "tightening" cycle and now we are off to the races again.

With classic corrective bear markets now "obsolete" the bands will be stretched to the limits until total disaster strikes IMHO.
