I don't think it's as simple as high or low taxes. Those are relative terms. Is 5% too high or is 15% too high or is 60% too high?

IMO, it depends on what the taxes are used for, how difficult it is for taxpayers to earn that income, how progressive the tax system is, how much of income is required for basic expenses, etc.

If someone who earns $30 million a year is taxed at 95% on his last $10K of income, would anyone care? OTOH, if someone were taxed at 25% on their first (and only) $10K of income, many people would care.
