Starting with the hyberbolic however, often prevents that. There is more going on in that article than just hyperbole. There is kind of a preemptive attack on the very notion of a certain postion (in this case Bush's ranking among Presidents). This, I believe, is an even more insidious form of squelching legitimate debate. This same tactic is what is found in cases where responsibility for error is ladled out while exclaiming "Let's not play the blame-game". Appeals for calm and reason are welcome when they are sincere, but when an admonishment is used to provide an attack and simultaneously suppress a response it should be exposed for what it is. TP
