Well, I completely disagree that this is a piece of subversive propaganda and think you are being a bit paranoid. In fact, using the statement at the beginning actually waved a small red flag that it COULD be partisan and puts one on guard.

But the article's points were valid; you agree with this. If the arguments he sets forth are convincing and rational and well composed, and a reader finds himself convinced, then good for the writer. Since I already agreed with this theory in advance, I enjoyed his articulation of it. But it in no way made me "tacitly in agreement" with his statement about Bush's potential standing in the Worst President Hall of Fame; it only reinforced my existing belief that people who frequently use negative hyperbole and absolutes in a discussion have closed their minds on the topic and won't offer much give and take. It didn't take the article to point this out; it's observable in many posters' words.

But assuming for argument that there was an ulterior motive, if that article changed anyone's minds on Bush, then they aren't very thoughtful readers. Hopefully it made people consider the reasons they use such statements.

I think the author was showing his bias, but the points are valid. He did note that the same was said of Carter & Clinton. I do agree with you, that the article would have been more effective if he had not chosen a current political topic to use as an example. If you look at the source however, you can understand more.
