John - Yes, I did mention it and he is certainly aware of their efforts. He believes that OPTI Canada/Nexen's approach will be proven sooner though and on that basis, I got the impression that he gives them the edge as his new technology play in that sector. If things proceed along the lines he is thinking, you're going to have to try really hard to not make a ton of doh-ray-mi in any case.

I also heard that there could be a revision coming that will boost Alberta's reserve numbers from 175 billion barrels to...800 billion barrels. I asked if that latter numbers assumes the success of any of the technologies we had just discussed and he said it did not. That is over 4X Saudi Arabia's [claimed, but not independently audited] reserves. Guess you guys will have to start wearing turbans up there.

As far as the waking up screaming thing goes...yeah, been there done that too. You'll be greatly comforted to know that my daughter finally stopped that nightly routine...when she turned six years old.
