I don't agree that diplomacy had 'run its course'. At the time of the invasion, there was a proposal to wait 45 days before invading, at which time more members of the UN Security Council would come on board. If we'd done that, maybe Saddam would have relented. If not, then at least we'd have UN Security Council approval, and some more moral authority and international support.

Regardless, we made the decision and must live with the consequences. But, who will take responsibility for the intelligence snafus, the misrepresentation of information, the lack of planning, the miserable mistakes, and the huge resulting costs? Apparently not Bush. Remember when he was asked during the election if there was anything he regretted or would do different, and all he could do was stammer (I think it was an interview on FOX with Brit Hume)? Is it possible he isn't even aware of the massive foulups during his presidency?
