I don't think the Fed cares all that much about inflation to the extent the government can cook the official statistics and continue the snow job on the American public and the rest of the world.

If they have a choice between inflation or popping the asset bubbles and risking a crisis, I think they'll choose inflation. They think they can control inflation by cooking the numbers and keeping everyone conned.

What I really can't figure out is why long term treasury yields appear so comfortable with inflation breaking out and gold skyrocketing higher.

Could it be that long term treasuries are looking through today's inflation and forecasting the bust?
