I would imagin the poll was only taken in the South as apparently senior British commanders commissioned it. That leads to a couple of questions:
1. Is this a result of the local MILITIAS answerable more to the local mullahs then the central government being the vast %age of the poll?
2. Were the poll takers competent?

Its hard for me to believe that the vast majority of Iraqi's would not be extremely grateful for services rendered. Remember it was the Shia in the south who rose up against Saddam and were slaughtered after the Gulf War when we didnt intervene.
In any event I seriously doubt such a high percentage of people would be for violence against anyone, which makes me suspicious of this poll. jdn
