No. I wouldn't regret not going to war. I think wars need to be based on responses to actual events, and not mind reading or fantasies- even if that means waiting for a first strike. I am willing to take casualties where there is no other casus belli (like the invasion of another state, for example- which would also suffice as a reason to invade a country.) Of course that doesn't mean I think we should do nothing about rogue states- so don't go making up a false dichotomy for me.

I'm actually not advocating leaving Iraq immediately- because we've made such a mess there, I don't think we can. Although I hope that the Iraqis kick us out, because then we will have an excuse to leave the mess to them. I am pretty sure the region will be less secure and stable, though, post Saddam, and we (the US) will suffer for it.

" so I wouldn't trade one diabolical murdering spree for another. "

So what you are saying is that you would regret the war if their is rampant ethnic cleansing- killings, say, that far exceed the number of Kurds that were killed? That seems to be what you are saying, but I wanted to make sure.

But what if superman got word of the plot beforehand and used his xray vision and flying powers to carry the bomb out into space where it could be harmlessly detonated?
