"One thing for sure, the US gov. deliberately stirred up some so-called spy-for-China cases in order to reinforce the "China-threat" fear among the US public." Really..? How do you know this...? I am sure that's your belief which you are entitled to but I really don't see that. "And unfortunately, lots of people in the US buy into it." The biggest threat that US citizens feel from China is economic not military. The volume and tenor of discussions surrounding China is substantially different than the discussions towards the Soviet Union while it still existed. "But those already in custody or captured in China (worked for the US) already outnumbered those in the US (worked for China)." I don't think the total number of spies caught on either side is truly public either. Spies use diplomatic cover, when they are caught, they are generally quietly expelled. Also, I am sure China is using other countries to gain information about the US and vice/versa. Aside from that China is likely much more efficient at capturing spies than the US. But really the overall "threat" that the US public feels from China is economic not military. "After all, it is the US spy plane constantly flying near China, it is the US spy satellite constantly monitoring everything happened in China, and it is the US that have installed eavesdropping device in Jiang Zemin's airplane...NOT the other way round." Are you certain that China doesn't have any monitoring capability..? How about "renting" from Russia? Anyway the discussion may be getting a bit stale for other readers, but really I'd say the overall "threat" that the US public feels from China is economic not military.
