I know very well that the President does not come up with a plan all by himself.

Good, then stop talking like he did other that what he was supposed to do as President. He was supposed to weight all alternatives and then select the course of action and that's just what he did. You don't like it? Run for President so you can be in the historical hot seat.

It is what I call the herd mentality.

Conservatives hardly have a monopoly on herd mentality, I've haven't seen any original thinking in terms of liberals. If you're part of the herd you could hardly see that. I don't spout any party line as you should know. Like I've said, I'm a realist not a Republican or a Democrat and as such I'm not a partisan except for ideas I think are correct. I don't care where those ideas come from as long as I think they can work. You no doubt have seen posts of mine against prohibition on street drugs. That's hardly a popular topic for anyone to be touting on this thread as both Buddy and I can tell you.....

As far as Harriet Meirs goes? All I can say about that is a good leader realizes the battles that are worth fighting. He picks his battles in order to win the war.......
