Some mideast observers think iran is getting syria to resist the west with the promise of making up what sanctions might cause assuming the euros have sanctions on their mind. Syria is particularly important because US/France on the same page. The French might actually be getting tired of backing down and view lebanon in a similar way to the US and Israel. By the way Kurds in Syria are making noise already and Iran may give the order to Hizbollah to go on the offensive against Israel. Wests problem in iran is how to diffuse the nationalism the mullahs have created in order to engage the mass of folks in iran who hate their control. This nuke thing is a source of pride over there. Ultimate deal may be to let them go nuclear post mullah at least in terms of the power plants and prey for responsible new leadership that either wont go to wmd or if they do, it will be in a responsible manner to offset not only israel but other potential threats to their independence like russia, pakistan, US, and an arab bomb of the future.
