They are OK in younger people, but older set should add L-Arginine. L-Arginine increases NO in blood which is the chief antangonist to the peripheral vascular clamper angiotensin, which the ACE inhibitors try to regulate. If you kill off all the oxides, the lack of NO will cause BP to rise, giving rise to all manner of ills; kidney, liver, heart and lung. So either be very moderate with A, E and the stress-ease tabs, or take L-Arginine, about 2 grams a day, to balance out effects. Cod Liver Oil is very high in E, so should be balanced. Vitamins are a P on a knife. Going either way too far may cause some ills. Some vits cannot be overdosed, such as in most B's, Lecithin, and C. Others like A, D, B3 and E should be moderately used. You have to have just enough D and that is that. Over 1.8 grams D is in danger territory. A is hard to overdose but be aware of excessive anti-ox in some individuals and environments may be a hazard. Supplementation of "vital amines" and minerals for North Americans and Europeans, depending on their skim milk intake or balanced with it, is probably necessary. All vitamins should be dosed in harmony or relative quantity or not at all. That means, since the NA diet is deficient in terms of our ancient "heritage diet", lacking in whole grains (B's, chrome, selenium other trace minerals), C and roughage, (fibre) -- it has to be supplemented. This has been known since 1890 when it was suggested to fortify bread and milk, which in NA was done. Now white bread has more vitamins than whole wheat. Where northern societies do not fortify milk vitamin deficiencies abound (Scotland in modern times). So if you are not taking massive balanced multi-vitamins or equivalent mix, you are not eating right. You cannot get the right amount of vitamins, minerals and fibre in a modern hybrid grain/meat/starch/saturated fat/insecticide/cattle hormone/antibiotic/herbicide diet.* You might supplement by eating 6 oranges and drinking a quart of skim milk a day. * anti-biotics and herbicides/pesticides in foods kill vitamins. This has been known since 1954. References available on request. R. Adams, Dr. L. Pauling, Dr. Roger J, Williams, Andrew Weil MD., R. Carson. EC<:-}
