Bush is where Truman was before the last couple of years of his term. So one never knows. If iraq works out in some fashion (granted its a big if), the sacrifice we have made will not look to be in vain. That will change the polls very quickly. What i would love to see bush do is to fire rumsfeld or accept his "voluntary" resignation. Lieberman would be a perfect choice for a variety of reasons, not least of which would be his personna of lack of arrogance, the exact opposite of Rummy. By scapegoating rummy, bush can free himself from that stench at least. I have always maintained that the way the post war was fought is what really did us in. I am less certain now than before whether our problems in iraq is only operational but if it is, iraq may be redeemable.
