The funniest part of that brochure is when they say "binary compatibility isn't enough...your existing applications can't just run on a new architecture, they have to run well."

Oops. One of the biggest bloopers Intel committed with the initial "Montecito" Itanium (or whatever it was called) was throwing in a half-assed x86 emulation mode that went beyond useless all the way to disgraceful, and was a major factor in the Itanium's early market failure. This was when HP was, at least publicly, backing Intel's play.
