For future reference in case anyone else encounters the problem I was having...

The symptom: SSPro starts up and you get logged in, but the process hangs on the "Requesting Account Information" box.

The solution: Disable McAfee Privacy Manager (MPM) and kill the process mscifapp.exe which is associated MPM.
