Hi Mr. Lucky: Very positive name... (:) I was addressing flag burning although when I wrote the response I admit I did not know whether Hillary burned the flag or what she did.And still don't.. I just know... ( did you live then..) that those times were really emotional ones.. My students used to leave the school for protests, stand in the streets and taunt the PIGS..Police.... I used to run with them to try to keep them from being arrested..It was hippie time.. And my students are probably now on Wall Street, Doctors, Lawyers and famous as some have become writers... My seniors were claiming conscientious objector status running off to Canada.. I had to participate in writing letters on behalf of students... It was chaotic.. Classes in political science as well as in the alternative school where I taught had daily discussions and lessons about the war and all its concomittent parts. Students and parents took off for Washington to join anti war protests.... If one got caught up in that frenzy and emotionalism it would be easy to see how common sense and ones set of principles as you say would be shelved. About that time we had Watergate so the president was caught stealing and lying. That was disillusioning and many persons values flew out of the window by this terrible example of hypocrisy... BY the PRESIDENT.. People lost FAITH. I don't know what Hillary did.. But I know that one has to be in the milieu of the times to understand actions... The last part of your post I concur with completely. ML
