Another strong ticket for the Dems to consider in '08 is Warner/Bayh. Both posess apparent electability. Both are from the so-called 'red states'. And both are overwhelming popular in each of their home states. Most importantly, Bayh would provide the overload for the governor in experience & possibly foreign policy back-up as well. Really kind of reminds me of the Clinton-Gore ticket. Clinton, the charismatic southern governor. Warner, the charismatic governor from the south. Gore, the heir to a political family. Bayh, also an heir to a political family.

You could also make a strong case for tickets like Warner/Richardson, Warner/Clark or even Warner/Obama.

I don't like the positions she's taking on Iraq, her silence on the Bush Supreme Court nominees, that little bit about flag burning, you name it. I can't recall a recent position I liked. Perhaps there was one.

After all this time in public life, I don't really know for certain Hillary's position on a lot of issues.

But, my gut tells me:

She is really smart. She is well informed.

She does her homework.

She would not have invaded Iraq to start GWII. She would have let the inspectors continue to do their work. The no fly zone would have been in place, if not expanded. Saddam would not have been able to reconstitute WMD program. Saddam would have been contained. Swiftboat types are certain that was what would have happened under Hillary. Liberals are not sure.

Hillary's supreme court nominees would be more like Ginsberg than Alito. Swiftboat types are very certain about this and they will do everything possible to stop that possibility. Liberals will go back and forth. They can not be certain about anything.

Hillary will cave to that little bit about flag burning. She will also cave on a lot of other little issues. If she wants to be president, that is what she will have to do.

On a lot of other more important issues that you can name, eg, torture, Rowe v. Wade, separation of church and state, balancing the budget, you name it - I think I know where she stands and so do the swiftboat types. Liberals will not know for certain.

That is why it will be close in 2008.
