"It's kind of weird to come down harsh on the employers"

Why is that weird? The illegals come for the jobs, and hiring them is illegal. If they couldn't get jobs, they wouldn't come. Coming down on employers is THE ONLY thing that will stop the hordes of illegals from coming here.

The IRS depends on employers to enforce tax law through witholding. I don't see why they couldn't be responsible for ensuring that they are employing actual citizens. It might take the issuing of national ID cards, but it could work.

re: Why not just round up the illegal immigrants as well, unless you're afraid to be called a "racist" or an "insensitive" kind of guy?

Why bother, the employers are the enablers. The illegals don't come here for the weather.

Unless you support illegal immigration...

JF, It's the people employing the illegals that are creating the problem. Stop them, you stop the problem... right?

It's kind of weird to come down harsh on the employers, but look the other way while the newly unemployed immigrants figure out where to go next. Why not just round up the illegal immigrants as well, unless you're afraid to be called a "racist" or an "insensitive" kind of guy? Either way, you'll be accused of killing off the livelihood of, say, poor undocumented Hispanics who would be homeless otherwise.

The real problem is that the rich are afraid they will lose their cheap labor. Of course, they will be the first to complain when this country becomes bilingual in twenty years.

There is nothing racist about telling illegal immigrants to go home. It only becomes racist when you discriminate between the white illegals and the Latino illegals, and make only the Latino illegals leave.
